The 3 Things You Need to Know Before You Drive Traffic to Your Facebook Page

You’ve Got A Facebook Business Page…. But Do You Know How To Use It?

On a surface level, setting up a Facebook page for your business seems like a great idea. Many businesses have popular pages where they share content and generate interest.

Using social media means you will continue to be on your potential clients’ minds — and you might even reach more people.

Facebook is one of the most popular social networks in the world, so it makes sense to start there.

However, you should not kick-off your Facebook page and then start posting randomly. Soon enough you will wonder what it is you should be posting and might be tempted to abandon your posting efforts.

Before you take the plunge into Facebook, you need to answer some questions about the way you will use it.

1. What are the needs of my business?

Pin down the reason you want a Facebook page for your business.

Some businesses don’t need a set social media presence because their target market is not online. This mostly applies to services that cater to older generations.

However, if you want to get teenagers and other younger people involved, it is highly effective to have an engaging social media strategy.

Other companies come up with a social media strategy to make up for their lack of advertising budget. And, in a way, effective social media use is an ad within itself.

Some people are experts on Twitter and Facebook. When you gather a lot of followers, everything you post draws attention to your company, just like an ad does.

You probably are not starting a Facebook page to chat other people up. There is a reason (or multiple reasons) you are doing it, and you need to spend the time getting crystal clear about what those reasons are.

2. What will you say on the page?

It’s unlikely that you will be posting aimlessly on Facebook.

Are you trying to recruit staff members?

It could be very helpful to discuss upcoming vacancies, new positions and new services on your Facebook page.

Want to market a new line of products?

It means your potential clients will be aware of what you are marketing ahead of time, so you will get a head start on sales when it is released.

Consider if you want to repost any content.  And, how many times a day will you update your Facebook business page.  Several times a day is best if you really want to keep people’s attention, but again, you have to know the goal of what you are posting. A social media page should have a goal associated with it.

Another great benefit of social media is networking.

You can connect to professionals and discuss your services in Facebook groups.

3. Whose attention do I want?

When posting on Facebook, you cannot expect that you will attract everyone.  Plus, certain age groups are poorly represented on Facebook.

You need to post content that interests your targeted group.

All businesses need to do proper research into what group (niche) will benefit the most from their services.

Not many businesses, if any, appeal to every single demographic. So, you will need to figure out who will be most interested in your posts.

Answering these three fairly simple questions will get you on your way to managing a successful Facebook page for your business.

If you know your goal and your audience, you will be in a good place on social media.
